Man, it is hot here even in the morning!
Today Thomas, Mike and I sailed at TAMUCC to help out their PR department. They were putting together a recruitment CD they are sending to prospective students, etc, and wanted to have some windsurfers out to be in the background while they shot. It was short notice and early in the morning (well, 8:30...), but I thought it was a good chance to show goodwill as windsurfers. Mike & Thomas agreed.
It was light wind, as it always is here in the morning unless a cold front comes through. That is what they wanted, though. And, I had to rescue an umbrella and a beach ball, so it was probably good that it wasn't windier -- for their sake.
There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the beach. It's no Doug's Beach, but you can't really rig where you park. I was excited about being really orgazined... taking my rig and piecing it together quickly and showing off how with-it I am. Well, I pulled out the 460, not the 490 and had to go back. Then I realized that the clew for my boom was the wrong one (too short), so I had to go back. Then I put the 17.5" fin on and it was too long (we were sailing close to the beach so stay in the picture), so I had to go get a smaller fin. The only thing I had right was my board & sail! Thankfully, no one paid me any mind so I didn't seem so disorganized. ;-)
Even though it was light, it was actually kind of fun. We sailed back and forth, about 100-150 yard on a reach, one about 45 degrees off the wind, the other 45 degrees upwind. Just the joking around with Thomas and Mike made it worth it, but also helping out James at the University was good.
