I had a blast today. I was able to sail with some good friends, the wind was nice, the weather was nice and I had a good time.
Elianna, Evan, Thomas, Mike, Tim (who I just met), Trucker Bob and Worldwinds Don all were there. We all sailed really close together, in a pack, for the better part of an hour. There was hardly anyone else around, though I'm not sure why. It could be the appearance of some stinging jellyfish, which I got another taste of today (several around the thigh, etc). They aren't really bad, but I could do without it.
I didn't do well jibing today... I was out of rhythm. Toward the end of the day I started troubleshooting and figured out that I wasn't bearing off enough and I was flipping the sail too early and not continuing my carve after the sail flip. Stuff to work on for next time.
I sailed my Ezzy 6.6 camless today. I've tried it before, but went back to cams. Today I had it bagged out to start, because it was light, but after I went out it picked up. The sail wasn't as stable camless as it was cammed, but instead of putting the cams back in, I added about 2cm of downhaul and 3 or 4 cm of outhaul and went back out. After that, it was perfect: locked in, solid and fun. No instability, no "oh my God!" banners blinking in my brain when a gust hits. I think I'm going to keep sailing them this way. If nothing else, they are easier to rig.
