After another painstaking convincing of Laura to go to the lake instead of the alternative plan (to go drink a few beers and go out to eat), we arrive at the lake with a 13 mph breeze, and we rig a 4.4 for her to try backwinding and helis, and a 5.8 for me. As soon as I enter the water, an outflow from a nearby storm occurs, and it's nuking 23 gusting to 29. I'm more than adequately overpowered! Tried some lame vulcans and shove-its. Wind lasted maybe 45 minutes, when it was back to non-planing conditions. Tried many push tacks. Tried my highest speed sb360s yet, and they're getting better. The push tack practice has helped... also, seeing a video of a guy doing it without ever placing his feet on the front of the board offered a new perspective on how to approach it: | ||
