Another good day of sailing. The wind was E-SE and that makes for a terrfic reach at Bird Island. You can take runs of several miles long with anything from really, really flat water, to flat to a little bumpy/choppy. It's a lot of fun, and the farther you go from the launch, the better the wind in both consistency and strength. I think the dunes near the launch create some erratic wind there, at least until it start cranking. If it's 25 or less, go out south and you'll see how much better it is.

I didn't have a terrific day jibing, but I did hit a dozen or so really nice ones, and had plenty of other good ones that didn't come out planing. I'm starting to get more comfortable jibing in choppy water -- I'm keeping my balance better and keeping my weight forward. But, I'm not taking enough speed into the jibes and while I complete them, I don't come out with a lot of speed usually, and often drop off a plane.

It looks like Bird Island will be the Laguna launch for awhile, as Grassy Point is really shallow right now. I'll have to start sailing in the bay more often, too. The shallow water stuff really sucks.
