Slog day. I waited for the forecasted 15-25, but it never really materialized. We thought it might pick up around 4pm with some thermal action, so I rigged my 6.6 and Carve and went out. I had a few planing rides, but nothing great other than two runs where I was just barely powered up, but enough so that I could feel comfortable chop hopping without feeling like I was going to go over the handlebars. This was good. I probably was just getting the fin out, if that (no waves to speak of, just corking the board and popping it out), but I got a lot of timing down and I think I understand it a lot more now. I think that chop hopping is actually easier done when not totally powered up. Control is an issue. The more you have, the better. I'm sure it's difference with actual jumps, but for the little hops, control is king. | ||
