The day started off slow, with Richard B, Dick W, John B and Mike M joining me. We all rigged too small to start. Mike on his 4.7, Richard and Dick on 5.0, John on his 5.5 and me on my 6.6/37 (I'm quite a bit bigger than most of them). We all planed a little and slogged a lot. After about an hour of that, we got some wind! It picked up to 20, gusting to 25 and we were all perfectly powered and drag racing. I held my own against some good competition in some drag races. I also got beat my fair share. It's great racing guys that are better than you because you learn so much about what is fast. You have an immediate gauge for what is going to get you that little bit more speed. You also learn what screws up speed. It was fun.

Today was another day that I felt comfortable. I didn't hit a whole lot of jibes, but I am not too worried right now because the straight line sailing has become more comfortable. I'm not fighting anything. My sails are rigged well, my harness is comfortable and all is well. The only thing I have trouble with is the front footstraps on the Carve -- no matter how I adjust them, my feet don't feel secure, like they'll stay in them. It's frustrating, and it affects speed and my desire to get a few chop hops. I'm going to have to play with the angle and width, I guess.

Looks like another good windy day tomorrow!
