Second day on the Carve 111:

I love this board, but not in the configuration that I think most would. I don't like the rear straps outboard at all. I do like them inboard. It just seems more comfy to me, and seems to fit my style better.

I took Roger's advice and opened up the straps a little, by using holes that made the straps wider than they were "meant" to be. I don't have especially big feet (11, but not really wide), but this is much more comfortable. The angle on the front straps (outboard, center) is a little different, but not noticeable.

This board is fast, faster than the Screamer. It's very lively, maybe a tad out of control, but that could be me and my sailing style, too. It turns well, but my favorite jibing feature is how easy it is to stay on a plane (though I wasn't always successful). I can fast tack this board reasonably well and uphauling in medium chop isn't a problem at all.

I do need to issue a retraction: The Starboard fin, a Free 32, wasn't the spinout problem. It was the outboard strap placement. I was spinning enough to scare people near me until I moved them inboard. I was using one of my old converted weed fins that I rarely spin out on. I only spun out twice after putting them inboard, and only because I was pointing high and pounding some voodoo chop
