        lulls: 11
        average: 25
        gusts: 30
Rated a 5 of 10

Board: Mistral Syncro 83L Fish (2006)
Sail: 4.7 Hotsails Maui Superfreak (2007)
Fin: Maish wave 25cm
Suit: Reef Fullsuit

Wouter and I tried the Southeaster at Strand. Also out was one other local (Dirk?) who managed to tear the nose of his Evo and two Euros sailing at "the pipe" surfspot. Ulrich arrived later but declined to rig.

Although sideshore, it was extremely gusty with the wind coming through the high-rise buildings. One is not only underpowered on the inside, but have to deal with extreme gusts pumping through. On the outside - about 500m out behind the reef, the wind is constant, but overpowered. (Wind speed is a guestimate, the meter sits on the beach and read 15 SE 11-23 when I went out, but I was definitely overpowered on 4.7) I went out farther than ever before, trying to stay out deep to take advantage of the cleaner wind, but it becomes lonely out there and after meeting a seeminly lost penguin floating on the swells, I turned back for a run all the way to the beach.
