The Strand rarely gets better than this. Solid Southerly with swell. I met Wouter at the beach and saw that Maurice was already out on a 5.8. I thought about rigging 4.7, but was not sure that the wind will last. In any case, I wanted to sail the 5.3 in salt water again, because last time I rolled it wet after sailing in greenish vlei-water ;-)

I already had three runs out to the reef, where big waves built. They became quite hollow and foamed a bit at the crests, but actually carried over the reef without breaking. I worked on jumping a bit, but with the wind direction one had to head-up quite a bit to hit a proper ramp. I managed some gybes on the outside, but somehow had no fun on the inside (maybe I am trying to point too high)

Wouter had bad luck, broke a batten on his 5.0 NP and spent some time re-rigging down to 4.4. Just after 5pm the wind started swinging SE and ran out.
