a great big gear day. went out on a 7.7 hellcat and code 122 early. had to eek it onto a plane early but things came up quick. had moments where I was overpowered and slightly backwinded. others were making 5s work during that time but slogging the rest. I held on all day planing nonstop with plenty of jibes down the swell and full speed on the inside. out all day since it was my last. on one run late in the day and heading back in bam and in the water. the boom broke on the ingoing arm. signalled the wall crew and rojn sailed out and switched gear with me and I was able to slog his small stuff in. he detached the rig and switched the boom and sailed it in like a champ. no damage to the sail. that ended things for me. not much more daylight and spent. second boom broken by me this week but no charge from vela so kudos to them. an awesome trip. cloudy today but some pressure bars out there. but I'm heading home. adios desde los barriles.
