It is hard for me to tell the winds here as opposed to CA as my old telltale signs don't apply here. But the winds were definitely strong that day (strong for me at least! I have low standards...). I spent a LONG time out and it was great! I was able to practice and improve my tricks. It has been a long time since I've been able to do that with school and work and...essentially the hassle was to get to a beach back at home (socal). I really improved on flat water jumps (there are no waves here to use to cheat with!). I also got better at jumping to my left (back at home with the almost always west winds, I always went out to the right and with the wave direction, I'd only jump going right), and I really improved on powered-up unhooked jumping. I never before really worked on jumping unhooked in high winds, it was intimidating for me. But with the warm, flat, and shallow waters and the simplicity of relaunching my kite and getting my board, I am less afraid to try new things. I even landed a few unhooked triple back spins today! Now if I could only handle pass.... | ||
