THIS is why I live here!!! A not-even-cold cold front combined with nice peeling chest to head high waves made for a sweet lunchtime session in only my bathing suit. South Packery is no longer the red headed stepchild of wave sailing here. The new sandbars have created a much more defined wave than this site had in past years. Nice steep ramps. Second run out I had one of my better back loop attempts. The landing process became clear to me, although I didn't make it. I had rigged during the clouds, so as soon as the sun came out (about 15 min later) I got way powered up, too wound up to try much, although I did try a few more backies. On one I overrotated so hard I decided not to try any more. I practiced lots of bottom turns on the inside. I tried Jenn's kite for about 5 min but didn't give it a fair shot...I had to be back to work, and all I did was get dragged and give it back to her. I need to try sometime when I devote my full attention. Zach ended the day by putting his whole sail in the trash can (ripped in almost every panel), which I found humorous, albeit sad to say goodbye to a sail :(. | ||
