120- The 2008 Canal Crawl Circumnavigation was the first session of the day, There were 6 windsurfers and the women almost swept the event, with Angela Hurley and Alissa Innman taking first and second place respectively. Other windsurfing participants in order of finish were Mike Murphy, Dave Hasti, Carrie Robertson and Don Gentry. Angela shaved almost 15 minutes off last years winning time by completing the course in one hour. Sails ranged from 6.3 to 4.5 and everyone seemed to have a good time. For the second year the Canal Crawl brought real wind. Went to BIB for two afternoon sessions and almost everyone was planing on 5.8+ sails. Rigged 5.3 and it worked very well although there were holes it was mostly planing everywhere. Made several unusal runs across the IWC crossing between SI#1 & 2 which is not doable very often, there were some fairly nice swells in the channel. Otherwise mostly tacked to SI#1 amd SI#2 and the launch, with a few powered runs inside along the sandbar. | ||
