Short session today... work, Tae Kwon Do and lots of time on the water recently all contributed. Plus, when I got there, rigged and was ready to hit the water, I found a huge chunk missing from the nose of my board. I used some Solarez on it and went out, but it cut about 20 minutes or so off my time.

I still had fun. I used my bigger fin, which was too big today. It was actually probably windier than yesterday, but I'm still glad I used the bigger fin. It's so nice to have something solid to push against. That smaller fin wasn't pushable. I need a 14" fin, though, for days like today.

I'm really tired right now partly because of a restless night last night, a hard day yesterday and that I spent all 60 minutes on the water looking for ramps. I'll tell you this: once you decide to start jumping and find that they aren't all that scary, and you can override your brain's efforts to save your skin, everything looks like a ramp! I tried probably 50 jumps today in 60 minutes. Most were small and pathetic, but a few were pretty good. For the most part my technique sucks but I'm not worried about that. It's been an effort getting over the hump to get off the water and reversing my instincts. Now that I'm over that I'll start worrying about speed, hang time, distance and looking good doing it. I'm pretty psyched.

The strangest thing happened, though. At one point I spun out bad. I think I was just reaching, not landing a jump, but I couldn't pull it together... normally it's pretty easy to stop spinout, but this time I couldn't and eventually a rail grabbed and I went over so hard that I pogo sticked my mast IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BAY! I had to pull UP on it to break it free. When it came up, there was some mud on it. I guess that part of the bay is about 12 feet deep because I was using a 15 foot mast and only the bottom three feet were out. Strange days indeed.

The next few days don't look like wind, so I'm going to spend time working on my gear. I need to repair a sail tear, sand down a couple of repairs on two boards, sand & fix some fins, etc. I ordered some acrylic dust to re-nonskid my boards, too, as they are all becoming too slippery and it's hard to jibe, etc. I've slipped a lot lately. No fun.
