Today I arrived at BIB without Annie, as she had a commitment, but she came out about 2 hours later. I sailed by myself for a bit, up near the third island, and then was joined by Eliana and Mike Murphy. We hit a pretty good wind line... probably mostly around 20 gusting to 23. Not too bad considering the forecast.
Then I went in to check on the two older kids, who had come out with me. I brought the Equipe for Annie and decided to take Devyn for a spin. He sat in front of the mast for a bit. We got on a plane a couple of times and had a good time. He had a big smile. I also had him stand up and hang on the boom a bit, but he didn't like that quite as much. All in all, it was pretty fun. I think the Equipe is much faster and more fun than the Start. The Start is really slow, even when planing. The Equipe got up faster and the top end wasn't reached by Devyn and me. After we were done and I was heading in to take Annie the board, he asked how fast we were going. I told him about 18-22 and he said it felt much faster.
When we got in, Annie had the 3.5 almost fully rigged! I'd done it for her a few times and yesterday I showed her how to do it, but I didn't think she'd catch on so quick. I had to make a couple of minor adjustments, but everything else was great. She's really getting into this! I actually saw her come in when Devyn and I were just getting on the water and she was ripping around corners... she was excited, even trying to find ways out of her prior committment. Sheesh, she's turned into a windaholic! I am so lucky!
I didn't get a chance to see her sail, but she said she felt she did pretty well. The wind was mostly offshore and she didn't have any problems getting back. There were lots of jellyfish, and she didn't complain of being stung. So, I'm thinking it was a good day for her. Soon, we'll get her in the harness to start maximizing effort and time on the water.
The bad part is I found a small ding on my Allstar. I think it's a sure bet that I got water in it, but I don't know how much. I repaired it, but I might drill my board and drain it, just to see.
