First time at North Beach. This is the best place to windsurf in Corpus Christi, in my opinion. I didn't last long -- maybe 30 minutes. It was hard to get upwind in the straight on-shore conditions; I'll get it down with repeated trips. This place is great, though. It's pretty similar to the coast. The windblown shorebreak was a lot like the sloppy surf on the coast. But, it's closer to my house, there is a paved parking lot with plenty of "grass" to rig on and a short walk to the water. Once I figure out how to get upwind quickly, this will be awesome. The view is great. The Lexington WWII era aircraft carrier looms over the beach, the downtown is a great backdrop, and the Bay Bridge. I can't tell you how much fun I had, and I basically didn't really even windsurf. I guess the main thing missing was other windsurfers. I hope to see others out there in growing numbers. | ||
