Alex Whitmore arrived for some windsurfing and he sure picked a good day. I took 1/2 the day off work so I could sail with Alex On the water from 2:15 - 4:15. The gusts were huge and jibing was pretty scary so I didn't even try too many unless I hit a lull. After the first hour of sailing I went in for a rest and pulled the 65 ltr JP Radical Wave out and popped the 3.7 on it - to see how the boards compared. It was a lot of fun and carried me thru the holes better. Holes weren't really a problem except near the drop-off. Great ramps and rollers today! Don said they rigged 40 small sails and all were out on the water. They couldn't rig any more because they used all the masts they had. Everybody was smiling today.
According to Dale Nelson the gusts were 50 mph in town. I'm pretty sure we had some gusts of 40 mph at Bird Island.
Big day for the speedsurfing guys. Chip was overpowered on a 5.7 sail and had to leave the sail at the boat launch and walk back to his car. Bill Jones hit 42.9 mph on a 6.6, 32 cm fin and his Missile. Really bummed that T-Bob missed speed sailing today.
Max Speed: 29.3 mph
Miles Windsurfed: 18.8
2008-miles: 290.9
