Sailed at Bird Island Basin
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 78, '06 Sail: 5.6 Sailworks Hucker Fin: 24 cm True Ames Surf Grass Suit: farmer john Water Temperature: 76 F After some down time nursing a sore lower back back to health, it was so great to get back on the water and windsurf with the Bird Island windsurfers - the parking & the water was packed. I made several runs to Island #3. I had to rig down to the 4.2 Hucker for a while but the wind backed off so I asked Angela at Worldwinds Windsurfing if I could demo a big freeride board (since I'm kinda pondering on getting one this year) - she suggested I try the Mistral Syncro 104 ltr. I snapped the 5.6 Hucker on it and had a great time even when the wind came back up - the board was never unruly - very turny - fast to plane - I like it! The wind came back up big time and I hung onto the 5.6 as long as possible till I had to call it quits. My last run to Island #3 on the Syncro was kinda of spooky because fog rolled in and I couldn't see the usual landmark references. AWESOME DAY sailing at Bird Island with T-BOB etal. |
