We missed the best wind which was during mid-day. Also got off the water just in time as the wind dropped down to below 15 knots just after 18:00.

Originally rigged the 5.3 Blade to use on the SuperX, but as the wind seem to have dropped a little, I took out the Hybrid with the already rigged sail. This sail falls below the sail-range for the Hybrid and the board felt nervous underfoot with the nose allover the place.

(Note: This mistake follows from not assessing water on my own. John rigged a 5.0 when we arrived and yesterday he was on a 5.3 while I was on a 5.7 - so I followed my peers rather than my nose. Later, he also came out to change up).

Changed sails to 5.7 Blade (mast 430+8cm=perfect & boom 145+38 pulled to within 1cm of clew. Had to tighten the bottom batten a bit). Set-up like this the bottom batten still sticks to the mast a bit on rotation - will pull it all the way next time.

Hybrid was well-powered with the 5.7 - it was not that gusty, but lulls here and there.

Changed to SuperX - wind seemed more constant. Fully powered-up and planing all the time. Only problem was bouncing out of the harness lines on the runs back to the clubhouse side (in other words runs with the chop rather than against it). I should probably commit more weight to the harness.

Afterwards, Ulrich and I drove to Sunset Beach and arrived there at 19:30. Took a peek at the Italian car park and witnessed totally blown-out conditions with the beach a mini-sandstorm and spray off the breakers. No windsurfers out - all probably further north in Melkbosstrand. (At the same time the Live Wind Report at Zeekoevlei on the other side of the peninsula was a mere 14 knot average!)
