First sail back in South Africa. Hectic gusty and generally too strong for the 5.4 and the Hybrid even on the short runs across Zandvlei. Had a couple of jarring catapults because of huge gusts.

Ended up sharing 4.7 Combat and Ulrich's 90 litre Carve. I was unfit and seriously overpowered, but managed to hook in. Learned to waterstart with my foot in the backstrap today!
Met a German kid and her father at the Vlei too. It was too blown-out for her to go out, so when Ulrich was on the board I practiced some elementary German conversation with her. Her father took a handheld windreading which showed a highest gust of 39 knots!
