I made a critical rigging mistake.
I got there right before the front. I rigged the 8.5/C145/Mirage 52cm. By the time I got it to the water the front was arriving. Kimo told me, as I hit the water, he saw there were wind reports in Georgetown of 30 mph. It was holey, but building. I was flying and not overpowered, but I was not having fun. The gybes were slow since the fin and rig were big. There were nice ramps, but I was not going to get airborne with this fin. So anticipating increased wind, I headed in and derigged, changed the fin to a freeride fin, and downsized my sail to 7.5m2. Then the wind dropped and I spent the next hour and a half trying to stay upwind and plane. No airtime, no fun. I should have just changed my fin, I guess.
Warm, pretty day anyway and one more before the end of the year. I will take it.
