A 25-35 mph forecast sure didn't materialize at Bird Island. I think a few of us jinxed the situation - I took all my light wind gear out of the van - Pat showed up with only high wind gear, another fellow showed up and said he only brought up to 5.8. The lady parked next to me rigged a 4.2 hoping for the forecast - her husband told her to de-rig it because she jinxed the wind. She de-rigged it! There were some early teasing winds that whipped up some white caps and got everybody excited that the front was finally here. But the holes were huge and the 4.8 and 78 ltr JP (what I rigged based on the forecast - when will I ever learn) just wasn't working at all. So I actually got a few decent but short rides late in the afternoon on the Sonic 90 & 6.6 Hucker - the gear I should have been out on the whole day.
It was still a nice day for winter, and I can't rate the session a 1 because that rating is now reserved for getting stuck in the Bay on a short board and no wind. So I'll give it a 2 and hope it's better tomorrow.
