The day started with a really fun Halloween Party for the CC Canine Club - best turnout ever - 18 dogs and probably 30 pet parents. Pepper was in dog heaven with so many doggies to run and play with. Of course chasing the ball is Job #1 for her. We had a full agility course and a swimming pool. Several of the smaller dogs dressed up for the costume contest. After the party, I went to Bird Island. Fritz was coming in to downsize from a 9.0 to a 7.5 and said it was up and down. I was really encouraged so I rigged the 5.6 Hucker and the 78 ltr. JP. First run and I knew the JP was too small and I was chilled. Went in for the Sonic 110 and my .5 ml. Promotion top. Much better! The 5.6 was plenty for the 110 - carried me thru the lulls very nicely. The wind was really good south of the launch to SI #2. I was wound up several times - the 110 dancing across the top of the chop. At around 30 miles, I missed a jibe near SI #2 and my foot stuck in the footstap and the board twisted it to the point of me yelling OUCH!!! I stood there for a minute to see if my foot was going to allow me to sail anymore - seemed OK - and I was ready to try the 78 JP again. Went in and got it and it was fun in the gusts but I wasn't flying anymore. Overall the wind conditions were gusty and inconsistent but still very fun. The 110 matched with the 5.6 was the best combo of the day even though it got pretty wild in the gusts. Since I had a great time with the Canine Club and a great time windsurfing, I rank the entire day a 9. If T-Bob could have been here for all the fun, I would have ranked the day a 10. | ||
