Today I felt sick, but not weak, and it was the first good wind in 10 days, so I went to Oleander. It was too offshore and everyone was rigging 6.5's and such, so I went to Grassy instead. Everyone there was being blown off smaller stuff. Richard couldn't hold down his 5.0, Teresa was having trouble with her 4.0, which Charlie was now using and doing fine. I rigged my 5.4 but put it on the wave board.

All in all, the wind was great. I didn't make a single good duck jibe and my regular jibes were poor, too. I think I learned a lot about entering a jibe smoothly, though, which is important because that is one of my problems.

My biggest problem hit me when I got home. I'm a sick man. I didn't realize how weak I was while windsurfing, but it hit me coming home and putting the trailer away. I'm hoping I feel better tomorrow so I can sail again -- the wind is supposed to continue for a couple of days.

One interesting thing: I hit hard a couple of times and water got up into my right ear underneath my helmet and neoprene headband. Not good. That's similar to how I ruptured my left eardrum. I may have to wear silicone there, too. And, it happened twice, maybe three times.

The worst thing is once I tried a duck jibe in about two feet of water, but the sail hit as I was ducking and I went WHEEEEEEEE! SPLASH!. I did a head first dive. Thankfully the top of my head hit soft mud, not a brick or rock. I'm not going to be trying any more duck jibes at Grassy. It's often tempting, but that result could have been disastrous and isn't worth the price.

I give this an 8 for fun because once I found out how sick I am I thought "hey, that's a pretty darn good day for a guy who is as sick and weak as me!" ;-)
