Not a success. I thought another day for my 80 litre board, but it was way, way too gusty to be fun. Couldn't even try a gybe, it was a few seconds on the plane and the next few seconds there was no wind.
Getting away from the beach was pretty hard, you try to go NW, but with the wind very West, that was hard work. I just picked up the sail, an extreme gust, bang, sail hurls over the board. Start over.
But in the end I made it past enough boats to go more West and cross the channel. But unfortunately the rides were just not comfortable. Could have tried Waikowhai perhaps, but I'm sure I would have needed a 4.2 or so.
So not much learning, just hard work.
