First day for wind in my Gorge Trip. Although I spent 2 1/2 days in Portland. That was fun and awesome hitting the Brew Pubs and running in 54 Degree temps in the mornings around the Willamette River. Got up early and Parked Doreens Motor Home to get a parking spot at Doug's . You can See Doug's from Doreens Picture window. What a view!
Had breakfast in town picked up Simmers from Oalaf, smoked Salmon from Gillmores for lunch. When we got to Dougs everyone was out on small stuff. I rigged the 3.7. It was good right at first then got BAD. Big holes and big Gusts. In typical Gorge Form. Then it realy turnded bad. I was in the shallows on the Oregon side talking to Bill waiting for a Barge to pass. I heard a big crash and realized it was Stacie. She was yelling and motioning for me to come to her. When I got there We were only in about 2 foot of water and she could not stand up. She thought it was her knee. I sailed back and found Chris. To make a long story short. She could not be rescued from the Oregon side and had to be taken by boat to Rowena then By ambulance to The Dalles. Her Leg is Broken right below the knee! UGH! Possibley knee damgae as well. After all that called it a day to go Winery hopping! Sun was ugly up and down and had to get ready for the Party Sun evening so Sat. would be the only sailable day. 4 girls in the Gorge! We had fun anyway!!!!!!!!
