First time on the water in a while. Took some
time to get everything sorted out from the trip
to Hawaii and loaded back in the car.
Got to the Hatchery and it was cloudy and soso
windy. I thought it might pick up if the clouds
burned back but didn't want to schlog so rigged
the 6.5 with the small board. That's a borderline
combination and together with the new gloves and
boots (I threw the old ones out before flying
out of Hawaii) everything felt weird, and big
(after a week of 4.x sailing). It took some time
to get back in the groove.
Had some good sailing for about an hour and
yup the clouds burned back and the wind picked
up. Went in to rerig and took a rest. When
I was ready to get the smaller sail set up,
the wind had dropped again, so went back
out on the 6.5 instead. Was just about the only
one out there for an hour. Some good sailing
but wound up way downwind near the Hatchery
buildings. Eventually the wind dropped and I
drifted back to the cove launch as planned :-).
A good day to get warmed up.
