Wind Journal for Bill

32nd session in 2007
Sailed at Kanaha, HI
Wind from the NE (mph)
        lulls: 22
        average: 25
        gusts: 27
Rated a 7 of 10

Board: F2 Wave 259
Sail: 5.5 Nash Koa
Fin: Wave fin
Suit: 3/2 Shorty
Water Temperature: 77 F
Air Temperature: 82 F

Puffy wind. Probably could have used a bigger board
to get through the mini-lulls better.

Milking it early and was doing all I could to stay
even with the beach and keep on a plane. Still fun
to pick my way through the swell.

In the afternoon it picked up and Mike, Laura, and
Brian wanted to go back to camp one. I thought I
had enough power in the 5.5 to get upwind easily
so went along. Lost track of them, and got some
bad directions from some folks on a beach
(apparently AT camp one) that camp one was
further upwind.

So I sailed almost all the way to Sprecks where I
found no one and waves breaking over a shallow
reef. The wind had dropped off and I felt like
I better get back to Kanaha or swim. So I bagged
the 5.5 and did a one jibe downwinder (half
slogging, half surfing swell) back to
the launch where I found the guys at the van.
Apparently I went tooooo far. Cool to see whats
along the shoreline between Kanaha and Sprecks.
