It was a pretty windy day so I headed to Oleander to sail about 11am. There wasn't anyone there, and I don't like to sail alone, so after calling a few people and waiting about 45 minutes, I headed to Grassy. Driving past Ropes and Poenisch turned up nada, too. Grassy was empty, so I decided to head to Bird Island. This town amazes me sometimes. You wouldn't know there was windsurfing some windy days if you didn't head out to Bird Island.

Bird was cranking pretty good, even though everyone said it was dying. I rigged up my F2 Wave and 4.7 Sailwork Quaddro. My big mistake was the 11" weed fin. It was too big, though it's my smallest weed fin. Since the weeds are currently light, I should have gone with something else. The Quaddro is unstable when overpowered, and it overpowers easily, so I was spinning out and really fighting it at times. I came in a couple of times to fiddle, and it helped some, but then it dropped a bit and I was able to sail with more control. It's a strange sail, it sails much bigger than it is. It has the lowend of a 5.5, but seems to top out and become overpowered at about the same wind. I think my modern Ezzy 5.4 would probably overpower in the same wind as the 4.7. So, they are almost redundant sails. I need a modern twisty 4.5!

I ended my session after 90 minutes. I have a lot to do right now, but it was nice to get out for a bit. Had I not wasted time at Oleander, I would have been able to get more time in, but that's that.
