My wave board is curing back in the tent, so all
I had today was the Veloce, which wasn't too bad
as it was forecasted to be light winds today.

The Event Site started looking a bit puffy so I
headed out there. The sandbar isn't as bad as I
had imagined, but there isn't much room to
launch anymore. It looked like a 6.5 could work
but based on the forecast I went with the 8.3.
It's cool to have the biggest sail on the beach :-).

I had a really good time zooming past loads of
people (to be fair on smaller gear). It had
been so long since I sailed the Veloce I had
forgotten how to jibe it--really have to let
the sail pull you over instead of you insisting
on things. Even planned out of a few by the end
of the session once the wind picked up.

A storm started to move in from the west and
with the bright sunshine over Hood River, winds
really increased and folks went out on 4.x's
(except me sans wave board).

Lots of big gear getting tossed about onshore--I
sat on my 8.3. I thought it would pass quickly
but it didn't. Finally I derigged and a few minutes
later things settled back down to where they were.
It makes me feel powerful to have that kind of
effect on the weather!

Put down the last layer of glass tonight on the
wave board. No use painting anything till I try
it out tomorrow!
