Got to Dougs again and it was windy--guys were
on 4.7s and gals were on 4.2s. iWindsurf said
today was supposed to be light though, and I already
had the 5.5 dialed in from yesterday, so took
it down the hill, figuring I could really downhaul
it if I had to.
Well, again before rigging anything, the wind
jacked up about 8 knots. No way for the 5.5--back
up the hill for the 4.5. Rigged it and went out
on the water for an hour of pretty good sailing.
After the second session the wind *really* jacked
up and, not having anything smaller, I sat it out
and watched--blown off the water in the Gorge yet
again. Guys were on 3.2's. Eventually, though
all good things must end and after about two
hours they started slogging. I went out on my 4.5
for another hour and a half of good times before
a rolling bank of clouds killed the wind off.
Got back to shore easily.
A nice day with big swell, big wind, and some
fun times watching the high wind action from
shore during my mid afternoon siesta.
The question becomes, will Bill buy a 3.9?
