Wow, what a comeback! Three straight good days. This day was pretty nice, but it was colder and windier as a cold front came through about 11am. I went to Oleander at 1:30 to meet Thomas, but we decided on Oso instead. Next time I'll sail Oleander, as I think it would have been fine. I hadn't sailed in my full suit in a long time and I wasn't sure how warm it would be. It was fine.
I sailed the 5.4, which was good to overpowered mostly. I only slogged for about 1 minute total today. Combined with the 0 minutes today yesterday, it's a record! What consistent wind!
After about 30 minutes, I put the Carve 111 away and took out the F2 Wave. It was much more fun, a big reason, I realized, was the footstraps. The Carve's footstraps just don't feel good. They aren't stiff like the F2. On the F2, I just put my toes in, but I'm in total control and don't feel like I'm going to come off the board. With the Carve, I feel like I'm going to fly out half the time, mostly in the front straps. I don't want to put my feet in there anymore because I could break an ankle. I need to replace those damn footstraps!
My jibes are still stagnant. My footwork is bad. I think I'd be good to go if I get my footwork down. I tend to leave my front foot in too long and end up stepping forward awkwardly with the back foot while the other foot in still in the strap. I sometimes even have to JUMP to switch! ARRRGGGHHH. I'll fix that and have some other problem, probably. I'll be forward looping before I get my jibe wired.
Oh, well, I guess I have a lot to be thankful for. It was a fun day, and the jibing thing is just a work in progress. I tried a duck jibe with bad results. I threw the sail too late and backwinded weirdly.
