The forecast was so bleak that I chickened out on the Screaming Reach. I wasn't even planning to windsurf at all but T-Bob called me from California and he was watching the Bird site. He asked me if I was going sailing and I said no, but he thought it was getting pretty good. So I headed to Bird Island, getting there around 3:00 and there were some folks getting some decent rides on big sails. I debated about rigging the 6.6 but I decided to remain optimistic and go with the 5.6. It was pretty bad the first 30 minutes but the wind finally started coming up and I started planning 95% of the time. Really had some fun runs and making most of my tacks and jibes. I'm working on faster tacks and things were going well with the practice today. The session, although short, was definitely worth the trip to Bird Island.
Two firsts for '07 season: First time out of neoprene and first jelly fish sting. Never did see the jelly but I sure felt it when it brushed against my leg.
2007-miles-to-date: 630.7
