Did a practice run for the Screaming Reach. Launched from CC TAMU beach @2:15 with Tamay, Chuck, and Maggie on kite. I didn't do a very good job of staying in a group and that was the last I saw them. Did one reach across. Surprised at the number of oil & gas wells. Many small structures just a few feet tall. Even saw one barnacle covered pipe about 1 foot above the water. Crossed the ship channel at marker 61&62 between 2 tankers. Started seeing seaweed from the Gulf, and the water was clearer. Hit the other side between DOW chemical & Sherwin Alumina plants. Kind of different. A flat water section due to curvature of the shore was a nice relief. The waist harness was digging at my left side. 36 minutes across.

The reach back was 28 minutes. A little less of a broad reach, and even a little pointing at the end. So, perhaps my first reach was too downwind. I didn't get any marker numbers re-crossing the ship channel, but again split a barge and a tanker. Haze limited visibility in both directions and I could only make out structures on the opposite shore once crossing the ship channel. My back foot began aching about half way through this reach. Overall, I was more dialed in on this tack. I hit some nice ramps I couldn't get out of the way of :-) I even sailed one handed off and on. OTW-1:04
