High pressure is BUILDING behind that front from yesterday, which blew
all night but didn't seem to blow itself completely out. I felt like it
might fade pretty quick so got out there early to the flats, unlocking
the chain to open the place! Wind seemed steady and I rigged big. Got
some great time on the water solo for about an hour when I couldn't
hold down the 8.3 anymore. I came in to rest and rigged the 6.5. More
people started to filter in. An hour later the sail still felt fine but
the chop was really coming up from the wind, plus one of my harness lines started
to self destruct from the pull, so I switched out to another boom and the
wave board. This is when it became a 10/10 day with nonstop planing
and smooth jibes from the smooth wind--even with the questionable combo
of the 6.5 with the small wave board. That really tells you how smooth
this wind was. But all good things must end. After about two hours the
holes started to appear, so I switched back to the bigger board. An
hour after that the wind backed off a bit more--still lots of fun but
I actually had to SLOG every once in a while and spoiled as I had been,
I packed it in after about 6 hours on the water.
