Wind was fluky north of the launch but spectacular between the launch to Island #3. Started out on the 6.6 Hucker with medium downhaul which was great until the wind came up. I tried the 90 ltr Sonic but that didn't work well - what a difference 20 ltrs of volume makes! When I went back to the 110 ltr, I was on a constant plane, often scary wound up. This is the first time I've sailed this fin - T-Bob bought it for me at a swap meet in the Gorge a couple of years ago and it really turned out to be a super fin for the 110 Sonic when there are no weeds. T-Bob put 1" of addt'l downhaul on my sail after I started feeling overpowered and what a difference! Kept me on the water a while longer. T- Bob was on his 125 Sonic and a 7.8 race sail, so he was doing horizon jobs on me pretty consistently. It was fun sailing with him until he left me in the dust. Hoped for 50 miles, but I'm happy with a super fun session on what could be considered a marginal day for most. One thing I know - Bird Island just ain't the same without Murph! Hope he'll be back sailing with us soon.
