Happy New Year! My first 2007 session.
By the time I had sailed 22 miles, I had been on 4 different boards and 2 sails, although the 8.0 turned out to be the best sail for the conditions. T-Bob suggested max downhaul which turned out to be a good suggestion as the wind kept building from 1:30 till 2:30pm. I Started out on the Sonic 110 and sailed for 45 minutes reaching the max speed for the day of 27.3 mph. The wind really picked up, blowing a solid 20 and the 8.0 was feeling big. So I went in and got the 78 ltr JP and the 5.6 and made one planning run out but schlogged back. T-Bob had gone out on my 8.0 and his big Roberts board (100 ltrs), so he wasn't able to plane and he gave me his rig. First time I ever sailed one of his Roberts boards. I was fun but still not planning all the time. T-Bob saw what was going on and was waiting for me by the drop-off with the 130 ltr ProTech. I attached the 8.0 and off I went. Fully powered and had a great time the rest of the afternoon. I sailed till 4pm when the wind finally shut off. Just happy to be back on the water FINALLY. The weather was just gorgeous. Jose was there - he sailed almost as long as I did. One other guy was sailing when I arrived but didn't stay out as long as Jose and me. My hands didn't get cold at all. The 4/3 was nice and warm. TODAY WAS A TEN!!
