The windmeter suddenly started to give 15 knots for Point Chev, so we headed out. We, that's me and my son Auke. Bought him a new wetsuite and shoes, as he had grown by a metre or so the last year.
The wind on the water was better than on the beach. My son had a good time with the NP Solo 5.0. No problems pulling it up, even with the somewhat choppy conditions. I think this was his first time in chop condition. I could plane with no trouble, but the chop didn't make the rides very nice, and the fin was too big for the 7.2.
Half way we swapped boards, he took my Bic Nova, and I the Starboard Start. It was almost as the Starboard Start made riding the chop a bit easier. But the Start doesn't have footstraps, at least not in a position where they are useful to me, they're in the beginners position, and so worn out they need replacement.
I hope when I get the iSonic that light wind chop riding becomes more pleasurable. But anyway, it was quite nice, planed pretty fast. Didn't make a carving gybe, bit harder in side chop conditions.
