24th session in 2006
Sailed at Windy Point
Wind from the S (mph)
        lulls: 12
        average: 18
        gusts: 25
Rated a 7 of 10

Board: C145
Sail: 8.5 MS2
Fin: Drake Freeride 52cm
Suit: Boardshorts

It was much better than I thought it would be. Even so, I rigged big. Big board, big sail, and tons of downhaul. The shallow water was a challenge. Unfortunately, my new DaKine roller harness bar quickly started to creak, then it broke. The 8.5m2 was handful without the harness. I thought I would have to call it a day. Brian, being Brian, gave me his harness hook, and went without. I had hoped to improve my sailing a lot on the recent Oregon trip. Although I did not meet all my goals, I definitely learned to sail overpowered much better. After 30 minutes, I was feeling good and comfortable. I saw Brian tearing it up. I was amazed that he could last as long as he was without the harness. Then, as I came up on him, I saw he found a harness bar. All was good.

It was a rare windy Lake Travis day. I wish I could have stayed longer.
