Another day at Grassy. This time, it was honking when I got there so I rigged the 5.4 Infinity (on consecutive days I've sailed the 7.8, 6.6 and now 5.4!). The 5.4 rigged beautifully, as did the others previously. But, I took it out and it was fluky. I think these new sails are a different "size" than old ones. What I mean is, an old 6.5, because it didn't twist and spill wind as efficiently, was a true 6.5. A current mid-6 is more like a 6.0 because it twists off a lot. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'll say this, the old Sailworks race sails had a lot better low-end side by side for the sizes.

At any rate, I schlogged for a little bit, thinking I'm okay, I can make this work but then a guy I just met named Dan came out on a 5.7 and was ripping it up. I outweigh Dan by 75 pounds, probably, and was on a smaller sail. Dammit, I said to myself, I didn't buy all that gear to schlog while it sits in the car. So, I stopped being so lazy (which is actually more work) and went in and rigged the 6.6. It was PERFECT. I was so happy that I re-rigged, I was flying around, kicking sand in people's eyes and having a blast. I stayed out to just before it started getting dark, then packed up as it began to sprinkle. Good times.

Also sailing: Dick, John, Steve, and Crab.
