Fin: 10" Wardog Weed Wave
Suit: Rash Guard

Weird direction, went to BIB to get my new boom -- a carbon boom after breaking my aluminum boom last time out. Had some good runs, tried some jibes around a buoy so see how to judge when to initiate. Felt really fast a couple of times, but felt like I could have done faster. I think the weed fin dampens it (weed/wave to be more accurate, probably not a fast fin). The top GPS speed was low, I thought I did faster, even thinking I'd posted my best ever (which currently stands about 33.6 or something near that). Nope.

Worst of all, I snapped my 460 mast after a jibe and a little catapult. I just got lifted off my feet, and when I had only my front foot in. I hit the board right at the boom, came up and inspected the board -- I heard a crunch, but the board was fine. Then, I lifted the sail up and saw the break, right at the boom. The old monofilm window was ripped badly, too. Bob Thompson already has it. He's such a great guy to have in town -- the $60 or $70 he'll charge to repair it saves me $600 it would cost to replace it. And, it's my main sail, so it will be good to have it refreshed.

Bad luck with the equipment, down a boom and mast (new boom: $500!). Maybe God is sending me a message... no Velocity Games for you, Hans. Maybe He's saving me the embarassment. :-)
