Fun day in new royal blue DaKine Nexus waist harness. My back is feeling it a little bit. I think I'm not as good at the waist harness in flat water. We'll see.
Pretty good day, decent top speed, though I was fastest on port, going out from the launch, and it was choppier there. Never felt totally powered coming in on the really smooth water.
When I arrived I was thinking 5.4, but I got smart and rigged the 6.6 and was very glad I did. First runs up to and just above the second island and it was much windier up there, probably gusting in the 30s. After a few runs and near-death-wipeouts I came back down to the gustier but more manageable launch area.
New harness line plastic covering is grippy and I got hooked in under the sail twice, which always throws me for a loop. I know I'm in no danger, but the heart beat comes up and I don't really keep my cool very well.
Tried some chop hops in the small chop, mostly starboard. My timing is getting better, but I didn't really get any air. Getting better, though. Saw Murph, Paul, Alissa, Trina, Trucker Bob, Bill, Doc Allen, Laura and the Worldwinds crew.
