NOT Windsurfing but, Started at Flagship Hotel in Galveston. 6 starts overall, probably 175 boats. Started in last fleet w/ all other multihulls. Ran on the outside, passing most of the monohulls. Stayed out, jybed at Freeport @ 8PM. South most of the night, wind built with waves, steering watch 1 hour on, 3 off. Passed the rest of the boats. Started surfing wave faces around 3AM. Wind clocked to the N, and we were able to bear off to the south. Past Matagorda 5AM through several UNLIT platforms. Spooky! Moon gone @ 5AM. Total dark at 15 Knots! Daylight at 6:45 AM. Incredible amout of large debris in water; trees, metal boxes, gargage cans. Lots of bumps in the night, but no damage. 8 AM, wind up, waves from the NE, flying down the faces at 15-18 knots. Able to surf complete sets. Ran down outside of St Joe, and out to 8 miles offshore, jybed to Port A. Got to the sea bouy around the same time as the huge Radar Platform. Wind clocked a little east, doused spin and hoisted jib. Crossed finish line @ 10:30. A couple of boats in sight. Physically wasted, unsure of where we finished, thought the worst. Sailed boat to City by the Sea, put it away, went home, slept. PM party, found out that we were the 4th boat to finish. Corrected out 3rd. Great time, crew w/ Carter Gregory, Charlie Weakly for Skipper John Williams. Let's go again!
