Monday October 10, 2005, 5:50p-8:10p

16th session in 2005
Sailed at Auckland, St. Helliers Bay
Wind from the W (knots)
        lulls: 5
        average: 10
        gusts: 13
Rated a 6 of 10

Board: Starboard Carve 99 2004 Wood
Sail: NP Saber 6.2 2005
Suit: XCel 4/3 infinity x-zip.

It looked ok, according to the weather reports: 16 knots. But at the beach it was just 7 knots at best it seemed. Auke wanted to come with me, so I rigged his gear. He had a nice time with his GUN Wave 4.0 and the Start.

But there wasn't enough wind for me, most of the time. But I made a real good waterstart. This made me too bold, so I went out to far, and then the wind died. Mostly. Had to swim back for two hundred meters. Sometimes there was some wind, but it was so inconsistent that I just couldn't keep up the sail long enough to wait for it.

The lesson is: don't windsurf after work. There never ever is wind left. I'll have to take a different approach. Just take the windsurf equipment to work, start much earlier and take an extended lunchbreak.
