I wasn't expecting any wind today but about 3:30 it looked like it had a chance so I headed to Oso Bay. I am tired of Grassy Point's high water and didn't want to take a late drive to Bird Island.

When I got to Oso it checked out at just barely enough for 6.6 and Carve 111/15.5 Curtis. I rigged and hit the water and for the first 15-20 minutes had a great time. I was just barely underpowered, but still ripping pretty comfortably. For some reason Oso Bay has nice round, steep chop in a few places and I really like that. They don't get big, but they are plenty for wannabe jumpers like me. I didn't get much air, though, being a bit underpowered at first.

From then on -- about 50 more minutes -- I was 95% slogging, but I wouldn't give up. It was very frustrating. The saving grace was that at 3pm I hadn't really even considered windsurfing and I did get 20 good minutes. The other parts were dues. I paid them handsomely. Better than nothing.

My equipment problems persist. One of the crossbars in my trailer is broken. My new outhaul line is too short so I can't run the sail as full as I like (unless I shorten the extensions, but I like to leave them so I can easily add outhaul on the water if it picks up), and I was worried about my universal joint, which needs to be replaced. Also, the packing-tape fix to my 6.6 sail window held well, but there is another crack I need to fix. It's been there as a crinkle, but now it's come through. I will NEVER buy another sail with monofilm in it. It's just not worth it to me to be anal retentive about sail handling. I'm going to get it fixed, but will delay as long as possible then get some x-film put in instead.
