First time sailing in forever! I've been busy every time it's been windy lately. Today wasn't great, but since I haven't had much time to sail lately, I went anyway.

The water level is still really high. The causeway to the island is often down to one lane and I really don't want to fight traffic heading that way. Grassy point isn't much better. The main launch is flooded and the alternative isn't that great. It's quite mucky and weedy on the shore.

It wasn't a very windy day, but I took out the 6.6 anyway, because it looked like it would work in conjunction with my floaty Seatrend Allstar 70, which is 140 liters. I figured if it built a little, I could come in for the Carve.

Well, there is no way I was going to go back in and fight through the muck and then fight upwind, but the wind didn't build anyway. I probably planed about 45% of the time, but I was never totally powered. I chose to use my waist harness because I put new harness lines on my boom and they were short. I wanted to make sure I didn't get out there and not be able to hook in with the seat harness. I think I'll be okay next time. Using the waist harness was strange. I couldn't get the same kind of pressure on the mast base as I usually do and the board wouldn't stay locked in. Pair it with the lulls, where I couldn't stay on a plane very well, and it wasn't worth it. I'll try my seat harness next time and if the lines are too short, I'll swap them with my small boom. I could use my waist harness with the smaller sails better, probably.

All in all, it was nice to sail again, but it wasn't an epic day at all.
