Dud, expect 12 knots wind, left home and the windmeter at Bucklands Beach ad 14 knots. When I arrived, we had gusts up to 30 knots. I don't have the equipment for that unfortunately.
Had Dieuwe with me, but he was in and out of the water in 5 minutes. Couldn't get away from the beach, way too much wind even for his 2.2.
I just played around a bit. Tried to waterstart my Carve 99 with a 3.5m Gun Wave, but that's still hard. Beach start went ok when there was a 30 knot gust, but as I didn't want to get away from the beach, coming back was almost impossible as the wind and waves kept pushing me on the beach. I really, really must learn to waterstart this thing.
When the wind dropped a little, I took my 7.5 out to the river's entrance and back. No fun. The sail just doesn't work when there is too much wind. And when I went downwind just a little too much, I somersaulted over the front.
With SW, lots of wind and high tide, Buckland's has a really nasty chop that makes riding my big board very unpleasant.
Anyway, it was fairly sunny and with my suite not cold at all.
