Fun day... better at my jibes. I finally figured out the biggest difference in jibing the Carve 99 over the 111... you don't step back on the board as much with the lee foot. I was putting it on the rail just ahead of the rear strap, but I went farther forward, aft of the lee front strap, and turned the foot more in line with the board and voila!, better jibes. I planed out of maybe a dozen. I hit a couple of purty duck jibes, too. I also had a huge wipeout on a duck jibe, where I decided late to do a duck instead of regular and then went too early and missed the first grab and then all I remember is "get over the front of the board," then "cover up, you are downwind of the board, it's sure to be coming at you still!" It's just good I didn't get stuck in the strap. I thought I knocked the wind out, too, but it just hurt my ribs a little.

Later on, I was crossing the channel a couple of times with Maury, to get into the cleaner and stronger wind and I went for a chop-hop (ugh...) and came unhooked. I hooked back in, but only almost-snagged it, and when I let up with my hands, the wind ripped the boom out of my hands, the board goes flying over a piece of chop, I go backwards, and my rear foot (the bad one) was stuck in the strap. It was interesting, and actually kind of fun.

Mitchell had more waterstarts. I thought it would be light for awhile, so I had him rig the 4.7, which I have used in 24 mph before (it's a powerful old Sailworks Quaddro with no range). He was getting worked, but I had to tell him three times to go rig the 3.5. When he did, he finally had more fun. His board is really dinged up, so I need to repair it in a few places, but especially the big softspot near the rear strap.

Fun day, got home early, about 5:30. Felt like a Sunday night. Need to do the camping thing more often, but not in the van, it was very uncomfortable.
