25% planing very late in the afternoon. The wind was so offshore, that a long walk back to the launch was the price paid for going out. Glad I got to sail a little while - such a PRETTY day! Around noon, while waiting for wind, Logan (New Mexico resident & regular BIB visitor) offered to teach me some freestyle moves, so we did that for a couple of hours on an Worldwinds Exocet with a 4.0 sail. Logan is quite accomplished at Freestyle, so it was a fun experience. Mr. Endurance: Bill Jennings went out at 9am and returned at 4:45pm. He was in the channel when I arrived at 10:45, so I was worried he was stuck out there. He rigged an 8.0 and apparently was happy that he waited the wind out for the afternoon wind that finally offered him some planing rides. His GPS was dead when he returned, so we'll never know how many miles he traveled (must have been a lot!). As far as my brief encounter: No GPS or helmet needed today. | ||
