Since I don't think I'm getting any thinner, my ability to sail in the light wind yesterday with a near carbon copy today must be that I'm getting better. I do think I'm also rigging my sails a lot better. These Ezzy's need a lot of downhaul no matter what, but that doesn't seem to really determine the power source. The outhaul makes a huge difference.

Today I had a big pocket in my 7.8 and it did just beautfully. There was a smidgen more wind that yesterday and I was powered up a tad more. Unfortunately, I sailed alone, but it was still fun. I felt really comfortable, hit a bunch of my best Allstar 70/Ezzy 7.8 jibes ever and did a bunch of fast tacks well. Now that this setup is working, I can sail 4 of 5 days around here, as all I really need is about 15-16 mph to get planing.

Having said that, it's a bit boring to blast around up and downwind in flat water, no matter how fast I'm going. The Seatrend is a fast one, too, and it's better than nothing, but I couldn't do this more than once or twice a week. I'd need some more wind for the 6.6 or 5.4. I'll take this right now, though, as sailing at all in August is a treat.
